When the Ycash Foundation forked the Zcash chain at block 570,000, they did so to maximize both privacy and distribution.

Ycash uses
1) the Sapling protocol for privacy, so private information, like your balance and transaction amounts, belongs to you.
2) an ASIC resistant mining algorithm, Equihash(192,7), so that with a computer and GPU, anyone can earn YEC coins just by running mining software!
